Portland and Seattle team up to host 'Northwest Knockdown'
The Rose City Rollers and the Rat City Rollergirls are proud to announce that the 2008 Women's Flat Track Derby Championship will be infused with all of the rough-and-tumble beauty of our two cities and our region, and it will do so under the name "Northwest Knockdown."
We are also thrilled to unveil the Northwest Knockdown logo, a gorgeous, skate-clad lumberlady, drawn by amazing Seattle artist Krysztof Nemeth (who has also drawn several of our more popular bout posters). We're still working on details of the tournament, but please keep checking this site for the latest news and information.
The Northest Knockdown, co-hosted by RCR and RCRG at the Portland Expo Center November 14-16, will feature the top eight roller derby teams in the country duking it out for the national title. The November championship follows Western Regionals, hosted by Houston Roller Derby October 3-5, and Eastern Regionals, hosted by the Mad Rollin' Dolls (Madison, Wisc.) October 10-12. The top four teams from each regional tournament will advance to nationals where, as we saw last year, the competition is top-notch and fierce, and anything can happen! (Currently in the WFTDA, the Mississippi River divides the Eastern and Western Regions.)
